I'm a bit late posting this but such is the way of my life at the moment. On April 18th our little Silas turned one! This year has flown by like some kind of messy whirlwind. Silas has thrown all our lives into chaos and yet made them seem so much more fulfilled at the same time. He's a character this one! Our fiery little redhead, if he's not smiling he's crying, loudly! It's one extreme or the other with very little middle ground. He's demanding and time consuming more so than either one of my other babies but also completely and utterly charming. He has me wrapped around his cute and chubby little fingers and he know it! I love him more than it is possible to express in words and am so grateful that he has given me this wonderful year of baby magic that I wasn't quite expecting. Now as we head into the wobbly world of toddlerhood with yet more challenges and undoubtedly a whole lot more chaos up ahead I constantly remind myself that every tiny move I make, every word, every action has the power to change the atmosphere of our days, the feelings in my children's hearts and therefore their lives. Seven and a half years in and everyday I learn so much more. This motherhood thing is wild ride!

Si Si is 10 months old.....
Si has mastered the art of pulling himself up and cruising from one piece of furniture to the next. He has also thankfully become much better at getting back down to floor level without the falling backwards with big head bumps we were repeatedly dealing with a couple of weeks back.
We have even witnessed a few moments of completely unsupported balance! Just for a few seconds until he realizes he's not holding on :)
He's moved on from the one arm, one leg, wounded soldier crawl and now for the most part goes full speed ahead on all fours. Oh and for the record, as of two days ago, he can climb stairs! Eeeeek! Best get some baby gates up!
A few other cutie Si-isms that I want to remember from this stage......first there's his super - concentration face, mouth wide open, lips pursed forward a bit. This face tells me that he means business and will stop at nothing to accomplish whatever it is he has his mind set on in that moment! We see it a lot! And I'm curious to know if he'll keep making it as he gets older.
His cinnamon-bun swirl of the softest, fluffiest red hair against his smooshy soft pale skin. I love that wee swirl!
The back of his head...that profile, those ears, it just IS my Grandad! So weird and so cute :)
Here's that concentration face again....
Those big dark dark eyes!
What else? Soft snuffelufagus eyelashes, big smooshy cheeks, the kissable lips! That hair! Oh Silas you are such a cutie and I am the worlds most blessed Mama, three times over!

Six months old.....
Silas just passed the six month mark and almost exactly on his six month birthday began sitting up unaided! He does still lurch off to one side every now and again but somehow manages to control most of his sideward tumbles with sort of a stiff-necked action that seems to stop him bumping his head on the ground....such a clever boy! His hair is more beautifully ginger than ever and he is blooming into such a wonderful, happy little character! He is energetic and really strong (both in physique and will!) He smiles almost all the time and if he is not smiling he's screaming. Loudly. He gets bored easily and is at his most content when he's slap-bang in the middle of some kind of raucous activity with his brother and sister.
I love him so, so much and even though my home is a mess, my laundry pile enormous, my dog un-walked and my time-keeping non existent, I can safely say that I am a happy wreck! I feel so unbelievable lucky to be his Mama!

Smooth operator....
Here's Silas enjoying his first ever smoothie! It was a delicious blackberry cinnamon smoothie I whipped up with thick greek yogurt and boy did he enjoy smothering it all over his face, hands, neck, highchair, floor, rug, table etc, etc, you get the picture. He liked it so much that when he was done.....he tried to eat the bowl!
