Plan B....

I usually try to keep things pretty light on this here blog and in life in general and I'm sure that for this very reason, my blog may present our lives to be a little more "idilic" than they really are. This isn't an impression I'm intentionally trying to create, I just don't like to whine and moan about stuff to people and generally keep my little nasties and negativities to myself. I know this is bad for me, but that's just how I roll. On that note I apologize if anything I'm about to write gives the impression that I'm having a miserable time. It's just that I kind of am and thought I should let you know about my plan to fix it. So here goes.....

Sometimes thing don't go to plan and unfortunately for us, well, things aren't going to plan. By "things" I mean LOTS of things... dramatic, unpleasant, and downright life-changing things and by "plan" I mean "get us the hell to BC forever".
The culmination of all these many, many, many, oh SO many things not going to plan is that ultimately there comes a time when you just change the flipping plan! (or cry a lot, eat too much ice cream, stop leaving the house, develop uncontrollable eye spasms etc, etc..... been there, done all that.) So that's that. The plan has changed. Lets move on to Plan B shall we? As life would have it, we can't just move ourselves to BC no matter how hard we try so we have decided to get as close to our dream lifestyle as we can without leaving good old AB and without Neil leaving his job and the little bit of financial security we have left in these dismal times. The Ralstons are moving to Canmore! It took a bit of thought and believe me it's going to take some serious sacrificing of things that perhaps we take for granted but ultimately it's what we need to do right now before we all loose our minds and before our situation has any affect on the lasting happiness of our little family. So without continuing with any of the negativity that has been clouding my head of late let me continue by saying that I love my family and I love Canmore. I'm not expecting rainbows and unicorns and moving there won't magically erase the problems we are facing right now but for the first time in a while I see a light at the end of this dark tunnel. Canmore isn't Tofino, it's obviously lacking one teeny little thing I call the Pacific Ocean but what it lacks in ocean it makes up for in mountains. Breathtakingly beautiful, rugged and wild mountains. And seeing as mountains are what led me to this land in the first place, they can't be a bad thing to settle for really. The town itself is quite lovely with a cute Main Street, a pond that's skateable in winter and a creek with ducks to feed in the spring and summer. There are trails gallore and a couple of really nice schools. There's even a yarn store and an annual Lantern Festival would you believe! The people of Canmore care about their community and the environment and nature there is about as spectacular as it gets! I mean, have you ever seen a town with an off-leash dog park that looks like this?

Me neither! And that's just the dog park! There's a whole lot more of this.....

Which will hopefully leed to more of these :) :) :)

Maybe a little bit of this....(yes, he's yodelling)....

And a lot more of this.......

There are some traffic problems........But you can't have it all!

It looks like we'll be moving sometime in early to mid November so I'll keep you posted. In the mean time my Mummy arrives tomorrow (eeeee!)  and it's my little monkey's 5th birthday on Saturday so I've got a couple of good things to be excited about!
 Goodnight folks!
